Well, that didn’t take long! Shortly after this fall’s 40 Days for Life vigil began yesterday morning, we received notification of the campaign’s first saved baby!
Fort Lauderdale campaign leader Linda was wrapping up her prayer shift when she noticed a couple leaving the abortion facility.
“I observed them having an intense discussion right by the door,” Linda said. “I prayed to the Holy Spirit to help them choose to keep their baby and to build a strong family.”
Linda’s prayer was answered by the unexpected arrival of a sidewalk counselor named Jonathan, who offered the couple encouragement and information about a local pregnancy resource center.
“They told him they were keeping the baby!” Linda exclaimed. “We celebrated the way God timed the opportunity for that couple to receive our help.”
Reports of saved babies came in fast and furious yesterday…
…and, God willing, they’ll continue to do so for the next 39 days!
You can save a life from abortion simply by showing up and asking the Lord to touch an abortion-bound mother’s heart.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Cathy went to catch a bus after wrapping up her prayer shift at Pittsburgh’s year-round 40 Days for Life 365 vigil. At the bus stop, she noticed a fellow rider looking at her signs.
“I asked if she knew anyone who might need some help,” Cathy explained. “She said, ‘No,’ but the signs brought back memories of a few years ago when she was going in for an abortion.”
The woman was rude–to say the least–to the 40 Days for Life participants praying for her that day.
“But once [she got inside Planned Parenthood], she realized she could not go through with the abortion and came out, apologizing to the people,” Cathy continued. “She now has a three-year-old son…and is so glad she did not have the abortion.”
Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland launched the city’s 33rd 40 Days for Life campaign on a high note when the 40 Days for Life 365 vigil spared a family the trauma of abortion.
“We’re not going to kill our baby,” the couple told prayer warriors. “You just saved a life!”
The Cleveland campaign works closely with campaigns in nearby Painesville and Bedford Heights–and those vigils have been fruitful!
“Our prayer warriors and sidewalk counselors have been told by abortion-minded mothers on 346 occasions since…2009, ‘I have changed my mind. I am keeping my baby!'” announced John, the longtime campaign leader.
The momentum continues to build, as John also reported signing up 18 brand-new participants for his vigil!
About 130 new and returning volunteers just launched their 40 Days for Life campaign with a rally featuring pregnancy help center directors, prayers and testimonials from clergy, and music!
