According to Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, Planned Parenthood ran an illegal abortion trafficking operation victimizing minor girls living in the state.
“Evidence has come to light that [Kansas City] Planned Parenthood was trafficking minors out of state to obtain abortions without parental consent,” Bailey wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Monday evening. “That is a direct violation of Missouri law.”
Bailey noted that he is “taking legal action to ensure” the alleged abortion trafficking “never happens again.”
The attorney general continued: “It’s time to eradicate taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood in Missouri once and for all to end this pattern of abhorrent, unethical, and illegal behavior.”
He added that he “will proudly defend” legislation that defunds the abortion giant “in court.”
This is not the first time Planned Parenthood has been accused of abortion trafficking in Missouri.
In December 2023, the investigative journalism nonprofit Project Veritas (PV) released video footage of the management of a Kansas City, MO Planned Parenthood seeming to express that abortion trafficking occurs “every day.”
In the video, dated the month before, an undercover PV journalist approached the facility’s staff about a hypothetical 13-year-old girl whose “parents don’t know” she is pregnant.
“Yeah, so we don’t do [abortions] here,” replied Lashauna, the Kansas City Planned Parenthood’s managing director. “Yeah, we don’t do them in Missouri. It’s illegal.”
“But we do have – I can give you a packet of the two locations that do it in Kansas,” she continued:
They have people that’ll come pick them up. They have to pay for the whole thing. I would call them and tell them what the situation is, they’re going to help.
When the journalist asked Lashauna if this was to happen “all within Planned Parenthood,” she answered in the affirmative.
“It doesn’t matter if the school agrees or not,” the managing director added. “We say that she was at the doctor. And we can cut off our letterhead, so it doesn’t even say where she was. Trust me, this is not their first rodeo.”
“How many times do you do this in a year?” the journalist asked. “Girls coming out of the state.”
“Oh, every day,” Lashuana replied. “We can set up hotels for them. We set up – every day.”
On the day the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Missouri became the first state to activate its pro-life “trigger law.”
As a result, since June 24, 2022, nearly all abortions have been illegal in the state.
Republican Gov. Mike Parson stated shortly following that day’s Dobbs decision: “Thanks to decades of conservative leaders, Missouri has become one of the most pro-life states in the nation, and our Administration has always fought for the life of every unborn child.”
“Today, our efforts have produced what generations of Missourians have worked and prayed for,” Parson added at the time. “[W]e have won our fight to protect innocent life.”
Despite the fact that Missouri is a largely abortion-free state, Planned Parenthood maintains a presence there, including in both Kansas City and St. Louis.
