Many women choose abortion because they do not want to jeopardize their careers or have the challenge of juggling a child and work. However, this brave mom chose Life, finding out she was pregnant just two months before her world championship race.
During the height of her pregnancy symptoms, Elle brought home a bronze medal in the 1500-meter race at the 2022 World Outdoor Championships.
St. Pierre told People Magazine, “It was something that I thought about a lot and hoped for and wished for, and the timing is never right. It’s never perfect, but it’s going to be tough no matter what. Your life is busy and if you have a career, you’re busy and you’re driven and you’re doing big things. But this was something that Jamie and I always wanted and I think that it’s really worked out well.”
Elle Purrier St. Pierre’s story challenges the outdated belief that female athletes must wait until their prime career years are over to start a family. She returned stronger than ever after pregnancy, breaking American records and winning world championships.
Earlier this year, just two days after her son Ivan’s first birthday, she claimed gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, setting new American and championship records in the 3,000-meter run.
